Frankfurt / Berlin (APA / Reuters) – Deutsche Bank wants to get more involved in China. "We want to invest even more in China," said Werner Steinmüller, a member of the Deutsche Bank board of directors for the Asia-Pacific region, the "Handelsblatt" (Monday edition). He considers that the consequences of the trade dispute between China and the United States are manageable.

"First, I think the conflict is not primarily about the trade deficit of the United States and China," Steinmüller said. It is more about competition between two systems: the state-controlled economy and the market economy. "We are taking advantage of this competition as an alternative to US banks, but the consequences of the conflict, we still consider them to be manageable." Deutsche Bank experts predict trade dispute will be 0.3 point lower on US economic growth and 0.4% less in China, said Steinmüller.

Steinmüller has been part of the Deutsche Bank Executive Board since 2016 and is responsible for the Asia-Pacific region. His contract expires at the end of July. Steinmüller can in principle imagine continuing to work beyond this capacity. "I like my job a lot and I like to keep going," he told the newspaper.
