The new Garmin Edge Explorer is a bike computer with a built-in navigation device and a color touch screen. Unlike smartphones, the 3-inch (7.62 cm) trans-reflective screen can also be read in direct sunlight. The navigation system can be paired with an optional handlebar remote control so that users can scroll through the menu without leaving the handlebars.

The Edge Explore is designed for cyclists and cyclotourists. and equipped with a map Europe bike. Users can enter their destination and are guided by a clbadic, step-by-step navigation, with the device giving visual and audible cues before changing direction. The Trendline Popularity Routing feature compiles the most beautiful routes from the starting point to the destination. The Group Track feature handles group trips when everyone uses an Edge Explorer badociated with their smartphone. This allows trackers to track the position of outliers or laggards.

The saved route data can be transferred to the Garmin Connect portal or application, which displays data such as altitude profile and route history. An automatic accident detection system should be able to send a message to a stored emergency contact, but this requires a smartphone connection.

Edge Explorer can retrieve information on Shimano STEPS E6100 and E7000 foot pedal propulsion systems on an additional data page. The battery charge level, the remaining range and the motor support levels can be illustrated in particular.

The Garmin Edge Explore system is expected to be available in July 2018 for around 250 euros.
