Ex-boxer dies in competition to eat croissants

Mario Melo is anything but a foreigner in Argentina. It is a term for all boxing fans in the country. In the 1990s, he was heavyweight champion in South America. In 21 fights, he celebrated 17 wins per K, then ended his career. Melo is retired after that and is now back in the titles. The reason is tragic, the strange circumstances. Aged 56, he had participated in the contest "Fiesta de la Medialuna" in Pinamar, despite diabetes. At the third crescent, Melo sank. At first, only the fire brigades were there to provide first aid. A little later, the rescuers arrived and took him to the hospital. But it was already too late. Melo did not come and died at the hospital.
