For some time persistent rumors claim that Apple adds its 2018 iPhone models, a USB-C power adapter and a USB-C cable to Lightning, so the appliances can be loaded quickly from the house. This is possible with iPhone 2017 models "only" with optional accessories. It is possible that only certified accessories will activate the fast charging function on iPhones 2018.

Finally, Apple has launched the This year's iPhone Equip models with an 18W USB charger and USB-C to Lightning cables for fast charging by default. Until here everything is fine.

Now, Japanese Macotakara colleagues, who in the past have sometimes made specific statements about upcoming Apple products, have their say on this. The "Japanese" refer to several vendors and announce that it could be that the 2018er iPhones could be loaded "quickly" only with fast chargers and certified cables.

An 18W charger, not certified, could open 2.5W "down clocked" to be. This does not mean that you can only use original Apple accessories for the quick charge function. There are many manufacturers who certify their accessories with Apple, so the selection is currently quite important, at least for chargers. There is currently no USB-C certified cable to Lightning. Only Apple currently offers such a cable. Conversely, it means that you can not just buy a charger and use it for quick release function. On the other hand, we can only recommend that you use certified devices for charging.
