Munich (dpa) – The drama "Shoplifters" by Japanese artist Hirokazu Kore-eda was honored at the Munich Film Festival as the best international film. The story tells the story of a family who continues to be stolen by a shoplifter and who one day takes a homeless girl.

Hirokazu Kore-eda divides the family as the smallest cell of the society so that it can reorganize, judged the jury Saturday evening at the awarding of the ARRI / OSRAM prize of 50 000 euros, awarded to the films from the Cinemasters series. The film has already won the gold medal at the Cannes Film Festival.

The prize of 15,000 euros for the best new international film went to "Border" of Ali Abbasi. Danish-Swedish production tells a woman with an extraordinary sense of smell. It was the hunted outsider, whose perspective lets take a look behind the mask of the so-called normal and in the grotesque face of what we call humanity, judge jurors.
