The world's largest violin is open.

In his first Mörbisch season, Artistic Director Peter Edelmann brings the world-famous Gräfin Mariza operetta to the specially designed floating stage this year: a gigantic 45-meter-long, 14-meter high violin is the backdrop.

"Getting closer when the good is so close – it was an important reflection in the selection of this miraculous work by Emmerich Kálmán for my first season as artistic director," says Peter Edelmann. The location of the story is original in the Hungarian Puszta and fits perfectly in the Pannonian landscape around the floating stage. As a result, the images are taken from the video walls integrated into the scene from the archives of the Neusiedlersee-Seewinkel National Park

The production is almost exclusively "Made in Austria". Director Karl Absenger is Grazer, scenographer Manfred Waba Burgenländer, music director Guido Mancusi is from Vienna, and Peter Edelmann. The choreographer Johanna Bodor comes from the Budapest State Opera and so has the Csárdás in the blood.

Spotted at first: Federal Ministers Margarete Schramböck and Karin Kneissl, Governors Hans Niessl and Erwin Schützenhofer, Mayor and Governor Michael Ludwig, Governor Stv, Johann Tschürtz and Franz Schnabl, Provincial Councilor and President of the Hans-Peter Festival Doskozil, Provincial Councilor Astrid Eisenkopf, former Chancellor Franz Vranitzky, Provincial Councilor Norbert Darabos and Alexander Petschnig, Harald Serafin with his wife, Mirjana Irosch, Sigrid Martikke, Guggi Löwinger, Richard Lugner and Eva Maria Marold.
