Breast cancer is one of the most prevalent cancers in the world, with approximately 1.7 million people diagnosed each year, according to WHO. Women are particularly affected. Many opt for a mastectomy (surgical removal of bad tissue) as part of bad reconstruction as opposed to implant placement and instead use a bad prosthesis.
The Swedish fashion group H & M wishes to contribute to the women affected on the occasion of World Breast Cancer Month in October, which aims to raise public awareness about prevention, research and treatment bad cancer.
The collection was inspired by an employee of the clothing company who struggled to find a fashionable bra adapted to her bad prosthesis after her mastectomy. In close collaboration with other stakeholders, H & M has developed the "Close to my Heart" collection, tailored to the specific needs of bad prostheses.
The collection consists of three different color models – a basic bra, lace and sports, which differs in some details from a standard model: The special laundry covers on the one hand a wider area chest to ensure better grip. In addition, breathable mesh pockets for any prosthetics are incorporated into all models. Adjustable padded shoulder straps and a wide rear closure with seven different positions also ensure a perfect fit.
In terms of price, the bras, which are available in sizes 75A to 85D worldwide in the H & M online store, cost between 19.99 euros and 29.99 euros. All proceeds from the sale of the "Close to my Heart" collection go to the American Cancer Society (ACS).
According to Statistik Austria, bad cancer is the most common cancer among Austrian women. Each year, there are approximately 5,500 new cases, of which 1,500 do not survive the fighting. Although precautionary measures and medical care have increased in recent years, there is no panacea.
In an optical reconstruction of the bad, a distinction is made between external bad prosthesis and bad implants. An external bad prosthesis is worn in the bra. These are cotton or silicone inserts that completely fill the bra cup.
