Top doctor clarifies

"Today.at" has with Dr. med. Ludwig Kaspar, medical director of Netdoktor, asked how to protect themselves from the infection.

"The transmission of hepatitis A is done by viruses, which are found in the feces," Kaspar explains to "today.at.hui.at". The viruses were able to penetrate the fruits, because during the treatment of the fruits, the measures of hygiene have apparently not been respected.

"Any food can be affected"

Resistant viruses were thought to end up in strawberries after a factory employee's visit to the restroom that did not wash his hands well.

But strawberries are not the only ones to be contaminated. "When the treatment is done" not clean ", all foods can be affected," says Kaspar.

But with a vaccine, you can protect yourself from a possible infection. More information on hepatitis A is available from netdoktor experts.
