The Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (Bafa) claims the environmental bonus of 800 buyers of the Tesla Model S in Germany. The electric car manufacturer has promised the support of those affected: You will interpret the amount recovered.
Specifically, it is cars purchased before March 6, 2018. About 800 people received an environmental bonus of 4,000 euros for this – in the opinion of the authorities, however illegal. An additional 250 procedures, originally postponed for review, were also rejected.
The price of the S model in the usual variant of the upper clbad exceeds the net catalog price of 60,000 for available cars, which is the limit of an environmental bonus. Tesla had agreed to offer the car without a so-called comfort package, which would have kept the price limit. Because the model in the basic version according to the representation of the Federal Office, but was not available in the market, the car was removed from the list of eligible cars.
In early July, they had been in contact with the group, the agency said, to find a mutually agreed solution for Tesla's customers. Since the company had left a deadline for proposals but let go, now the "reversal of the premium".
Tesla, however, denies that the basic version of the Model S was not available: "We have delivered such cars to customers," he says of the company. In the past, the electric car maker had already accused the federal government of deliberately setting the price threshold for an environmental bonus so low that Tesla cars would be marginalized. One had examined a complaint with the Commission of the European Union. The decision of the Federal Office to recover the premium now called the company unfair and unjustified.
The Bureau announced that the concerned buyers would be contacted in the coming weeks. Anyone who bought a car after the deadline can continue to apply for the bonus. In addition to the purchase agreement, proof of the blocked or activated portions of the comfort program must also be provided.
Since July 2016, buyers of electric cars can apply to the Federal Office of the Economy and Export Control to benefit from the environmental premium. For battery electric cars, customers can get a bonus of 4,000 euros, for hybrid cars, there are 3,000 euros. These premiums are funded equally by the federal government and the respective manufacturer.
