New York / Armonk (APA / Reuters) – The IBM computer company announced Sunday the takeover of the software company Red Hat. The two companies have reached a definitive agreement, after which IBM takes all the common shares of Red Hat for $ 190 per share in cash, announced Sunday IBM.

That would give Red Hat about 34 billion dollars (29.97 billion euros). The acquisition has been approved by the management of both companies. However, this depends on the approval of Red Hat shareholders. IBM is the world's leading hybrid cloud provider.

Red Hat is said to be operating as a unit within IBM's hybrid cloud team. In addition, Red White should continue to be led by Jim Whitehurst and his management. Whitehurst will also be integrated into IBM's leadership.

Red Hat is known for its open-source Linux operating system, which rivals Microsoft's Windows.
