Leica M10-D: Digital heart, badog soul.
Wetzlar, October 24, 2018. With the Leica M10-D, Leica Camera AG introduces the badog experience in the digital world of photography: instead of the screen, it offers a mechanical exposure correction dial and a built-in folding thumb provides additional stability – the badociation with the badog models M becomes so perfect The Leica M10-D is an experience focused on the essentials and on the basic aspects of image composition, such as composition, aperture, shutter speed and ISO sensitivity. However, the latest M model is not limited to its badog side, but in combination with the new application Leica PHOTOS, it offers many options for a powerful and modern digital camera.
All Leica M10-D settings are made using mechanical controls. The back of the camera is equipped with an exposure correction selector on the back of the camera. The badog appearance is complemented by a fold-down thumb rest on the top cap, based on the badog M-series film transport lever and which greatly facilitates the use of the camera, by especially with one hand.
The photographer decides himself the height of the digital part of the workflow with the Leica M10-D. To do this, the WLAN function can be activated directly with the control wheel on the back and thus quickly and easily connect the camera to iOS and Android devices. In this way, the screen is virtually detached from the camera housing and does not distract the user from the photograph.
In combination with the new Leica PHOTOS app, many functions of a modern digital camera are available. Not only can the images be controlled, but it is also possible to control the camera remotely via Live View. Many settings related to the recording can be made and the camera can then be triggered wirelessly. Options such as file format – DNG and / or JPG – or white balance can be adjusted as needed. All settings made via the app are definitely supported by the camera. The Leica M10-D can therefore be configured individually according to your needs. Finally, the application Leica PHOTOS can be used to transfer images to iOS and Android devices, share them via social network channels and save them in the personal photo stream. Thanks to the DNG format, even the RAW images of the application can be seamlessly transferred to appropriate applications on Android and iOS devices.
For more flexibility and control, the optional Visoflex electronic viewfinder is available, which can be very useful, among other things, for photography with wide-angle and telephoto lenses or in very complex compositions with a precise level of sharpness. In addition, it allows with its folding mechanism images from different angles, displays the last image taken for up to five seconds and has a GPS module for determining the position by satellite.
The Leica M10-D will be available from October 24, 2018 at a suggested retail price of € 7,500. At the same time, the Leica PHOTOS app will also be available for free download from the Google Play Store ™ and the Apple App Store ™.
