How did you meet the Scots? Compper: The people here in Scotland are extremely helpful. Not the motto "One hand washes the other", but the help really comes from the heart. People do not demand anything in return, they like to do it. This is more pronounced than in Germany.
The rivalry between the Celtic and Protestant Celtic Rangers is legendary and even religious. What does it mean to belong to Celtic? Compper: Religion does not matter anymore. It was a problem 20, 30 or 40 years ago. Today, it does not matter what you believe or where you come from. But humans belong here to one or the other side. You were born in this rivalry. There are also friendships between the two camps, but they rest in the weeks around the "Old Firm" (Glasgow Derby, editorial no.). What experience with the fans did you remember? Compper: Celtic has 10 million fans worldwide. Almost all people born in Ireland are Celtic fans. What is your relationship with coach Brendan Rodgers? Compper: In principle good. At the end of the transfer period, he told me that he was not really planning with me yet. That was because he had never trained me for more than three or four weeks. I understand that too. How do you plan with a player you have never trained for a long time? I told him that I will be stable and physically. But he still has not really seen what I could bring to the team in perfect condition.
Are deployment opportunities realistic? Compper: I'm fit, increases the pressure during the workout. Celtic has exceptionally already left seven points in the league. Why was the beginning of the season difficult? Compper: We had a few players at the World Cup, we had to finish all qualifying rounds of Champions and Euro League before and during the start of the season. It was eight extra games.
