Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is now also available on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and PC, about a year after its release on PlayStation 4. The collection includes remakes of the three PlayStation games: Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. While the look has been reduced, the gameplay is almost unchanged – with all the positive and negative consequences that flow from it.

A whole new look
The Vicarous Visions developers did a good job. All three original games were developed from scratch and dressed in a modern suit. While the old Naughty Dog games (Uncharted, The Last of Us) are 20 years old and are shrinking as a result, the new version presents beautiful environments that still exude the spirit of the source material.
All levels have been redesigned – The structure remained exactly as in the cult clbadics of yesteryear. New enough light effects, many details and (on PS4, Xbox One and PC) a sharp resolution, the switch version is fuzzy. The adventure runs at 30 frames per second – on the same PC 60 images are possible

Partially Obsolete
As impressive as the facelift is – under the beautiful new painting Every second, the old skeleton shines through. The crash is not ideal, especially with the badog stick. After all, old games were played with the PlayStation controller controller
Even jumps do not feel up to date in 2018 – in fact, they are fatal for a jump-and-run. The many good ideas, especially level, in which we ride polar bears or drives on the bike delight. These pbadages provide a lot of variety.
More Crash
In addition to new legacy games, Activision also released two new levels: Stormy Ascent and Future Tense. Stormy Ascent is an unfinished scene from the original Crash Bandicoot game and allows players to climb the walls of a fearsome castle on a stormy night. Developed by Vicarious Visions, Future Tense levels reinforce the claim of the future of Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped. By climbing a huge futuristic skyscraper, players must dodge rockets, destroy robots and jump over lasers.

Conclusion: New and yet so old
The Crash Bandicoot Trilogy N. Sane offers a complete package: three games of more than 100 levels, new HD graphics and a touch of nostalgia for fans of old PlayStation games. The exact implementation of the old gameplay is both a curse and a blessing at the same time. If you have made a retro trip to the world of Crash again and again in recent years, you can not go wrong with N.Sane Trilogy. But if you are used to modern standards, there are much better playable alternatives.
