North Korea and South Korea want to line up the summer Olympics of 2032, an additional sign of a rapprochement. They had agreed Friday to send a corresponding application to the International Olympic Committee (IOC), said the two states in a joint statement.

South Korean President Moon Jae In and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un announced at their September summit. Observers badume that the IOC sees the project with great favor. Already at the Olympic Winter Games last February in Pyeongchang, Korean athletes had invaded together a symbolic flag of the peninsula. Indonesia and India have also shown interest in hosting the 2032 Summer Games.

In addition, sports officials from North and South Korea confirmed the sending of a joint team to the World Cup of Men's Handball in January 2019 in Germany and Denmark.
