The most important innovation compared to the previous work is the intensified use of the piano. The instrument stretches the compositions enormously in many places, acting as a kind of prism that transparently reveals the ingredients of the song Deafheaven. The group fiddles again here and there, but in the past, it was monotonous in the black metal parts, so the patterns are sharper, riff-oriented and simply more catchy. Deafheaven is still "diabolical" – they still differ significantly from the pioneers of the genus Alcest, who never become really aggressive even in their black pbadages.

But it takes a moment before they look like "Ordinary Corrupted Human Love" for a moment. The album opens Deafheaven with a peaceful sound field of ocean sounds, piano arpeggios and Dreampop guitar. In addition, guest Nadia Kury speaks an excerpt Spoken Word from a new author Tom McElravey – pure romance.
