Post-music without young talent

LMZ: You were a busy Kapellmeister in Upper Austria. How and why did you come to Postmusik Salzburg in 1996?
FRANZ MILACHER: Salzburg's well-known composer, Peter Wesenauer, was at the time Kapellmeister of Eisenbahnermusikverein Salzburg and was a good friend of mine. He forwarded my address to the post-music managers and so a call arrived one day from Salzburg. After an "introductory rehearsal", I decided to take on the challenge of making post-music a very powerful orchestra.

Our versatility is above all what sets us apart. We all want to have good music for every occasion. Whether it is a big tour abroad or even a concert of Mirabellgarten in Salzburg, we would like to play varied and interesting pieces.
Which repertoire is played?
Post-music plays everything the audience would like to hear: from traditional brbad music, such as steps, polka or waltz, symphonic wind music, operettas and clbadical arrangements, to musicals and film tunes, not to mention pop and pop music.
What do you particularly like to remember? What have been the highlights up to now under the guidance of your staff?
One of the highlights of the history of post-music was certainly the year 2014, when we were invited to the Salzburg Festival. We contributed stage music to the play "The Last Days of Humanity". The same year, we gave a concert in the Golden Hall of Vienna's Musikverein. But there are countless other opportunities that I would like to remember, such as concerts in Hobart Cathedral in Australia, Tsingtao Opera House in China or our autumn concerts. in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
Are there special projects for the future musical future?
A long – time wish of our orchestra would be a second concert tour in Australia, during which we will work intensively from next year and hope to achieve it in 2020.
