Review of the film: "303" by Hans Weingartner

Car fans can immediately know what the title of the movie means "303". For all the others, the "303" is a legendary Mercedes Caravan of more than 30 years and the scene of this film. Because Hans Weingartner's new film ("The fat years are over") is a road movie from Berlin to the southwest, so in the right direction – towards more heat and the Mediterranean.

Jule and Jan try to understand the world together on the road and more and more together, and they can not prevent the eruption of love at some point.

This is not surprising, but it is not surprising either. Weingartner, who also wrote the screenplay of this film, makes it clear from the start that we are dealing here with two idealists, with two people who have not yet found theirs, but who already know of some exactly what they want, and they do not do it. Both are studying. Jule just spoiled his final exam in biochemistry, you own the collector's car; she wants to go to Portugal to see her boyfriend there. She is pregnant, and she does not want to just open it on the phone.

At the gas station, she meets Jan, who has messed up his ride, and is now trying to hitchhike. Now, they drive together. How is this, the two come in the common turn to talk.

It takes less than ten minutes, there go these talks to the primacy, revolve around the fundamental and familiar questions of life: Can you really choose, in which lover or not? Does monogamy finally lead to misfortune? Do not we all suffer under capitalism? Does competition or cooperation correspond to the nature of man? Weingartner's film accompanies both, leaving a lot of time for themselves and for us.

Art of Delay

"303" is a very simple, fresh film, in the best sense of the simple-simple term. A little of everyday life mixes with little magical moments. And even if, hardly surprising, love finally bursts, the director shows once more beautifully his art of delay.
