The American screenwriter Peter Craig ("The Hunger Games", "Top Gun: Maverick") was commissioned with the script of "Gladiator 2", he said.

At the end of the original film, the two main characters die in a duel, the gladiator to the famous hero (Crowe) and his rival, the devious emperor son Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix). The sequel should revolve around the young Lucius, son of the sister of Commodus Lucilla (Connie Nielsen).

The British Scott recently shot the drama "All the money of the world" (2017). In "Blade Runner 2049" (2017), an extension of his science fiction film "Blade Runner" in 1982, he was only executive producer, directed by the Canadian Denis Villeneuve. At first, we did not know anything about a possible shooting start for "Gladiator 2".
