After changing the organizers during the traditional tennis tournament on the Rothenbaum in Hamburg, it was planned to move the tournament to another city. These are now off the table.

The new organizer of the traditional Rothenbaum tennis tournament, Peter-Michael Reichel, is once again clearly committed to positioning himself in Hamburg. "Together with our partners, we plan to keep the tournament in Hamburg for the long term," said Austrian, who replaced Michael Stich as the organizer after ten years spent at Wimbledon.

The director of the future tournament "Hamburg Open" entitled ATP is his daughter Sandra Reichel. She has already held this position at the WTA tournaments in Nuremberg and Linz.

According to Reichel, the decision to invest in the plant in the Harvestehude district was decisive for staying in Hamburg. This agreement was concluded a few weeks ago with the German Tennis Federation (DTB), the City of Hamburg and the Alster Club as the owner of the stadium. The considerations for moving the tournament to another German city have therefore been ruled out.

Meanwhile, the proposal to organize a women's tournament in parallel to Rothenbaum continues. According to the organizers, the WTA is currently exploring "options". DTB President Ulrich Klaus recently commented: "In five years, Hamburg would be a combined men's and women's tournament, far beyond the attention of Germany". From 1982 to 2002 already, a WTA tournament was held at the Rothenbaum.
