Samsung One UI: also for Galaxy S8 and Note 8

At its own developer conference in San Francisco, Samsung introduced a new user interface for smartphones, which should replace Samsung's previous user interface. This month, a beta version of "One UI" will appear, for now but only for the S9 (Plus). But even the S8 and the 8 note have received, contrary to all the rumors, the new user guide.

The highlight of the Samsung developer conference was certainly the first look at the foldable smartphone, but the South Korean manufacturer had previously introduced a new user interface. The Android One based Pie user interface emphasizes a more efficient and clear design and offers not only a system-wide dark mode, but also one-handed optimized operation. The corresponding update will appear in January, but there are disagreements on supported devices.

Conflicting statements

During the announcement, only the upcoming smartphones and this year's luxury models, Galaxy S9 (Plus) and Note 9, have been announced. This caused a stir among Samsung fans, the predecessors not even two years old. According to the Tom's Guide, a Samsung employee confirmed shortly after the conference that the Galaxy S8 (Plus) and the Note 8 would receive an update from Android Pie, but without one UI.

Now, the famous Twitter IceUniverse Leaker is based in a message, but on another employee of Samsung, who would have testified that the older devices still had the new user interface.

A small glimmer of hope exists, if it is not official. An explanation from Samsung did not exist so far. However, it seems doubtful that Samsung specifically develops an Android 9 update with the former Samsung Experience for the aforementioned 2017 models, while at the same time working on the unique user interface on Android 9.
