Amazon has introduced a new feature in the Amazon app for iOS. Users can now use the "Part Finder" to accurately identify screws, nuts, washers and more for easy ordering. The application recognizes the type and size and helps to order the good.
That it is a screw, a nut, a bolt, a washer or another fastener – the Amazon's new online parts searcher Giant Online now facilitates the purchase of these small parts. This is made possible by a technology that Amazon itself acquired two years ago in Partpic's acquisition. The smartphone's camera is used to identify exactly the small piece to be identified in size and type, and then to compare with other types in a database.

For a screw it works like this: first the type is recognized by the wire, for example a wood screw. Then the size and the header as well as the location identified. For proper sizing help an adjacent one hundred-piece helps. The user can also find similarities based on schemas, if the Part Finder fails once with its badysis. Then, the part can be ordered easily in the desired quantity at Amazon.
Database of millions of coins
As reported by the CNet online magazine, Amazon has now introduced the new feature in the iOS app because the Android app is not yet known. The feature is currently able to identify more than 100 types of connectors, which, according to Amazon, accounts for thousands if not millions of pieces. The technology will be used by Partpic, a company acquired by Amazon in 2016.
Amazon did not officially announce the launch of the feature, but CNet, among others, confirmed that they had started distributing the feature to iOS users a few weeks ago.
