Vienna (APA) – "Batman", "Wonder Woman" and their fierce opponents landed at Vienna Stadthalle F. The American artist Nathan Sawaya created 120 Lego sculptures from hundreds of thousands of colorful plastic pieces around the famous DC Comic universe. As a child, the two elements fascinated him, he said at the press conference held at the beginning of the exhibition "The Art of Brick".

More than a decade ago, he professionally rediscovered popular toys and began badembling works of colorful DC plastic parts around DC's superheroes and villains. It can sit on a piece of art for several weeks – the published "Batmobile", for example, includes 489,010 individual pieces that have been glued together for security reasons, so nothing is lost during the trip. "Supergirl" comes with 3,070 articles.

When designing "Joker", "Supergirl" and less well-known cartoon characters, attention to detail is often compelling. A particular challenge, for example, is the coat of many superheroes and their movement, according to Sawaya. He himself had loved to make a very young cloak and played characters in comic booklets, including "Superman".

Justice and compensation have always been a central factor in this universe: it must always be the counterpart; therefore, "Joker" & Co. are also adequately represented in his work. "Good and bad are in us all," says the author, and a speaker whose studio has more than five million Lego bricks. Every day he creates new works that travel the world. A very personal "self-portrait" shows the former New York attorney as a toddler in superhero posture.
