Tesla: Hundreds of customers must pay back their e-premium

The buyer of the model Tesla S should not be happy with this news: Hundreds of owners of the electric car must pay back the electro-bonus already granted of 2,000 euros each. The 800 Tesla customers who had acquired the sports car before March 6, 2018 were concerned, announced the Federal Office of the Economy and Export Control (Bafa). In addition, there would be 250 state bonus applications, which will now have to be rejected. Bafa intends to inform interested buyers of a Tesla S in writing in the coming weeks

Illegality in the price list

The recovered premium fund is a conflict between the agency and the US automaker. His model S is in the usual luxury variant too expensive to grant e-premium. Bafa plans to award the bonus only for deliverable cars up to a net list price of up to € 60,000. Tesla had initially agreed to offer the car without a "comfort package" and therefore to keep this price limit.

But that was not true, the basic version was not available on the market. That is why last fall Bafa withdrew the model from the list of eligible cars

Customers who bought this car after the deadline (March 6) can apply for the premium. At that time, Bafa put the car back on the list. However, the base price must be less than 60,000 euros and customers must prove it.

Since the beginning of July 2016, the electric premium can be requested from Bafa. For a pure electric car with battery, you get 4,000 euros, for hybrid cars, 3,000 euros. Half of the premiums are funded by the federal government and the manufacturer.
