The departure of Schiemer is only the beginning

It was an important step in a new and better future for SV Guntamatic Ried. "For the club, it's only a real restart possible, even if I put my position at the disposal," said former director Fränky Schiemer, who will leave the club this winter.

The criticism of the OÖN was intense, as we had warned 20 months ago. It is not possible, without any prior knowledge in this area, to properly exercise the position of sports director in a professional national league club. "At Uli Hoeness was much younger than at his Bayern debut," said managing director Roland Daxl, who, along with board member Karl Wagner, was primarily responsible for the decision that had to influence more heavily the future of Ried.

A decision made hastily. The pressure was great because after Stefan Reiter's departure, the goal was to quickly present a name in which a hand was coming out of the shooting line and yet the athlete could exert more influence than before. . It worked perfectly with Schiemer, thanks to his past bonuses as a Ried player and his inexperience, having only been an badistant coach at Liefering since the end of his career.

The price was high, of course. A downhill, which was still trying to push on the predecessor, a missed climb despite a crazy and three possible places for promotion and low this year with the fourth coaching change in 20 months was ultimately too much. It is unlikely that Schiemer actually volunteered overnight. Do not forget one thing: where would he have known a lot?

His departure now allows to bring back more experience in the SV Ried. The commitment of Paul Gludovatz is now more likely. A collaboration under Schiemer as sports director would have been impossible. Even the honorary president Wenzel Schmidt, who also became closer to the club thanks to the cooperation of his son Maximilian, was not a friend of Schiemers. But the future mission statement of the badociation will be much more important than the name. The club can only succeed when the sport and the economy are again strictly separated. This is only possible with experienced, competent and strong sport professionals. Otherwise, Schiemer would have been only the next pawn sacrifice.
