"Everyman" retreaded: new costumes, new music

The summer of 2017 may not have been a great season for director Michael Sturminger. Critics for Viennese production of Vienna "Jedermann" ranged from "not quite finished" to "strangely lifeless". It was not until April that Sturminger was hired as a firefighter, after Tobias Moretti, new and highly anticipated "Everyman", worked with the directors duo until 2016, Julian Crouch and Brian Mertes in the hair. "Jedermann" by Hugo von Hofmannsthal [19659008] Hugo von Hofmannsthal was premiered on December 1, 1911, under the direction of Max Reinhardt, in Berlin's "Circus Schumann". The mysterious English play "Everyman" (printed in London around 1630) was the model of Hofmannsthal. He also picked up elements from Hans Sachs 'Comedi of Dying Rich People' and medieval minstrelsy songs. The play has been performed at the Salzburg Festival since it was founded in 1920.
