Former ÖFB player Christoph Westerthaler died on Friday. His former club Wacker Innsbruck confirmed his death on Facebook and forgave the Westerthaler family. The Tyrolean died as a result at the age of 53 from the consequences of a heart attack.
Westerthaler was the last one until May as an badistant coach at a third Chinese division. In his active time, the striker brought it between 1989 and 1993 to six international and played for Wacker Innsbruck, LASK and Eintracht Frankfurt among others. As a coach, Westerthaler was badistant coach and head coach of SV Horn in the first division between 2011 and 2017.
