The Symphony No. 9 in D minor WAB 109 was directed by Markus Poschner in the curvaceous Stiftskirche St. Florian. And he was also inundated with joy after the 7th Stiftskonzert. When he came to Linz the year before, he announced his ideas on his personal vision of Bruckner's works – and until now has filled them with other symphonies by the master. For the first time, it was the ninth, the last symphonic work, unfinished, for Bruckner's "farewell to life" and thus required an even more intense seizure.

The famous Bruckner specialists said that Bruckner's "Ninth" made you cry. Poschner succeeded with his humility before working in-house. No beauty of the score has gone unnoticed. Not even the detailed work in voices or dynamic contrasts. His intelligent and sensitive concept oscillated between mental violence and emotional devotion, between sacred devotion and earthly emotion.

The set of themes of the first movement was always very soft and calm, the "Misterioso" of the horns emerged from nowhere Poschner on breaks, to remove the disturbing sound factor of the reverberation in the time of l & rsquo; # 39; church. The scherzo pbades before him in the ghostly pizzicato and makes the trio dance even faster. From there, the Adagio movement stands out, the choruses, the allusions to lucidity, the melody and the theme recall Wagner and Mendelssohn, but also the use of his own quotes reveals Bruckner's thoughts on his creative end . He dedicates his "Ninth" to God and wishes to his "Te Deum" the finale of the symphony. Poschner chose "Lontano" by György Ligeti (1923-2006), a music of his calm and fluidity built according to a distant formal principle that is now experiencing a renaissance by overcoming its stylistic timelessness.

All forces were grouped for Bruckner

At the end of the season, the Bruckner Band does not show the slightest weariness during the entire concert and brings together all the forces for its Bruckner's honorable posting without any sign of routine. Quite for the pleasure of Poschner, who thanked the musicians with words and also brought some of the leading singers to the end in front of the curtain.
