It's incredibly impressive! The BMW Sports Activity Vehicle (BMW SAV) rests with the lower sole in heavy snow, pumping the air suspension a few inches high, thanks to sophisticated electronics and a limited-slip differential on the rear wheels that digs out of the air. snow … It could be the NÖN at this year's "Winter Technic Drive" on the Rettenbacher Gletscher (Sölden), an intimate and personal experience.

The X5's debut was not designed for the tough race. Nevertheless, the five-door sales in 1999 from the start were surprisingly good: more than 2.1 million vehicles were driven by the courts of various dealers (worldwide). In the Alpine Republic of Austria, one BMW out of four is now an X model. And the all new X5, by the way, of the fourth generation, also has all the attributes to become a hit.

"Meanwhile, one BMW in four sold in Austria is an X!" Michael Ebner, spokesman for the BMW Austria press

It has increased a little, both in length (plus 36 millimeters, to 4,922 millimeters) and in width and height, without being clumsy. This will probably be reserved for the next X7. Inside, there is plenty of room, the rear pbadengers feel comfortable. On request, the X5 is also available in seven seats (seats 6 and 7 are mainly for children). The maximum boot volume indicates Bayern with 1,860 liters.

A rag is the two-part hatchback, which is of course electrically operated and offers a flat threshold. In addition, rails in the trunk facilitate loading, with rubber elements automatically expandable while dragging luggage to where they are. The instruments are clearly designed, the operation is not a secret, it exists possibly to the gear lever and other switches and glbad applications of Swarovs-ki. A matter of taste.

We now have three engines available. They all have six cylinders – a 340 hp gasoline engine, two 265 diesel and 400 hp. The eight-cylinder 462 hp is unfortunately not (yet?) Planned for Europe. By 2019, the X5 will also be available as a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of up to 80 kilometers, in line with the new, practice-oriented WLTP process. And: an M5 gasoline version of more than 600 hp is also possible. The properties on the ground are really impressive. The optional off-road package includes four driving modes, off-road (at least optical) protection for the terrain and the aforementioned differential lock for the rear axle. In addition, an air suspension, an anti-roll device and many other gadgets are available.

The backup wizard is a special gag that remembers about 50 meters before performing an automatic reset in this way. Very handy if you have to stand in narrow streets or garages and need to reset. Not even bad parents: the emergency stop badistant brakes the car in case of emergency and directs him to the side of the road. Of course, the new X5 is fully networked and can even communicate with other BMWs in case of imminent danger.
