The 73rd Bregenz Festival will be officially opened on Wednesday by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen. The first will take place in the evening at the Festspielhaus of the first Austrian opera "Beatrice Cenci" by Berthold Goldschmidt. Thursday, "Carmen" by Georges Bizet will be presented on the floating stage. The staging will be shown 29 times at the end of the festival on August 20th.

The opera house "Beatrice Cenci" is played three times. The interest for both works is great: about 95% of the 210,000 tickets for "Carmen" are reserved. Of the 4 650 tickets for Beatrice Cenci, about three quarters were also sold. Karl Markovics' first opera, which inaugurates the festival "The Hunting Rifle" by Tyrolean composer Thomas Larcher on August 15, is eagerly awaited.
