After the strong flu epidemic of last season, public health insurance funds now want to badume the costs of the extended active substance
Last winter, an exceptionally strong influenza epidemic swept over the population, including in Esslingen district. As a result, partial ineffectiveness of last year's influenza vaccine was found. Nevertheless, recommends the district health department of Esslingen before the next flu season.
According to national statistics, one in six people diagnosed with influenza in the laboratory – a total of 60,000 – had to be hospitalized. During the 2017/18 influenza season, 1329 cases of influenza were reported to the District Health Department of Esslingen, more than double the previous season, which accounted for 548 cases. "In fact, the number is still significantly higher because not all flu-like symptoms are tested" Sophie Gienger of the Department of Health Planning and Prevention of the District Health Department.
