Wolfgang Kopplin changes after his departure from Ford Germany at the end of August in the auto trade. As the "kfz-betrieb" learned from business circles, he joined the board of directors of Emil Frey AG on 1 September. This was decided by the Swiss company at a management meeting at the end of June. A position in the senior management of Emil-Frey was free since the departure of Christian Klingler in April

However, Kopplin probably will not take the exact role of Klingler. The latter was responsible for all of the group's European activities. Now, according to the information of "kfz-betrieb", Emil Frey is structurally different. For every major market, there should be a responsible person. Wolfgang Kopplin will take care of the business in Germany. The press office of Emil Frey did not want to confirm it.

Until his move, Kopplin still works in his capacity at the Ford-Werke GmbH based in Cologne. He has been Managing Director Marketing and Sales since April 2014 and, since January 2017, he is also Chairman of the Management Board. In this role, he was responsible for Ford's operational business and growth in Germany.

He will also be responsible for the growth of the Emil Frey Group in the future. In Germany, this turnover reached just under 2.9 billion euros in fiscal 2015. With over 3,900 employees, it has sold more than 134,900 cars new and used. The group does not call newer numbers. In total, the company is active in this country according to its own data with 89 sites. The latest acquisitions date back to 2016: Two years ago, the Emil Frey Group took over the Mercedes-Benz Kbadel / Göttingen and Mainfranken subsidiaries of Daimler AG.

The portfolio of commercial giants in Germany includes Abarth, Aston Martin, Bentley, BMW, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Ford, Fuso, Hyundai, Jaguar, Land Rover, Lexus, Maserati, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi, Opel, Seat, Skoda, Smart, Subaru, Toyota, VW, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles and Volvo
