The YouTube player now adapts to the image format of videos – Smartphones in portrait format are no longer provided with thick bars.
YouTube leaves black bars for videos: now, the player automatically adapts to the format of the videos and the screen of the user. All videos will be displayed larger. On mobile devices, YouTube has removed black bars for a while – the update has also followed on the YouTube desktop page, writes community manager Marissa on the YouTube help forum.
So far, YouTube has tagged all the videos that were not filmed in 16: 9 format. The old 4: 3 shots framed YouTube so left and right, just like television .
In straight videos filmed with smartphones, these bars were even wider and more disturbing – at least if the clips on the PC looked. Large format videos now occupy more horizontal space in the browser window, even if their appearance is still not optimal. 16: 9 videos remain the optimal standard for the desktop version of YouTube.
"It was better before!"
However, users are less happy with the changes, as suggested by the YouTube product forum. , There, one of them moaned: "I hate that! Another says, "The system is broken."
Some users are asking for a quick way to disable the new presentation. A mandatory online petition on Change.org against the new feature is already in place, calling for "bringing a video size option to YouTube". Up to now, the petition has 9 supporters.
