A 26-year-old mid-Michigan man killed two women and planned to kill two more. He texted an old girlfriend telling him that he "had rid his demons of his dear friends," authorities said Friday.

Police found the bodies in different places after the man had shown photos of the bodies of the Eaton County Sheriff's deputies after a roadside check on Interstate 69, about 174 kilometers away. northwest of Detroit.

Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth said MPs "have saved many more lives."

"There is no doubt that the suspect was killing," said Wriggelsworth. "The investigation identified two other potential victims that the suspect had planned to kill, all of whom have been contacted and are all safe."

None of the other targeted victims was the ex-girlfriend, investigators said.

Police began looking for the man from the suburbs of Delta around 2:40 Friday after she reported that he was violating a personal protection order by knocking on his door and sending out disturbing text messages.

In the texts, he stated that he "loved her so he spared her and she would know what it would mean soon," Wriggelsworth said. Another text stated that the suspect "had rid the demons of some of his dear friends."

MPs parked the car of the man in less than an hour. After seeing the photos on his mobile phone, the agents were sent to a house in Holt, where the body of a 26-year-old woman was found. The body of a 32-year-old woman was also found in Meridian Township. Their names have not been revealed.

The suspect was detained on Friday at Eaton County Jail, under the terms of unrelated warrants, pending charges relating to the murders.
