Automata’s “last secret” has been found and it lets you skip the entire game

A new secret cheat code has been found in Neir: Automata which allows players to skip the entire game after only beating the first boss. This new discovery was also confirmed to be the “last secret” that the game’s developers teased a few years ago.

Released in 2017, Nier: Automata is a game with over a dozen different endings and a lot of secrets. The only way to really beat the game is to replay it multiple times, getting different endings and stories along the way. However, someone has discovered a secret cheat code that allows you to skip all of that and go straight to the end of the game after beating the first boss.

In Neir: Automata, once you unlock the E ending you play through a challenging arcade shooter sequence where you are responsible for destroying the credits of the game itself. Once you beat that, you can sacrifice your save data to help others players beat that end. This is not a joke either. Once you agree to give up your data, you lose all of your progress. To reach this point, it takes time and you will have to beat the game several times.

This is where this new cheat code comes in handy, as it lets you skip all of that and instead lets you sacrifice your save data right after beating the first boss of Nier: Automata.

Popular modder and dataminer Lance McDonald discovered this wild secret, which is not a problem, but rather a real cheat code programmed into the game.

McDonald’s hasn’t fully explained what’s going on in the video above, but it does show him beating the First Boss, and then anear that, he walks over to barrels and begins to enter the code. Finally, the screen goes black and Deny then leave you sacrifice your backup data.

According to McDonald, it took him “hundreds of hours” of reverse engineering the game code and engine to find that final cheat code. And shortly after sharing his discovery, game director Yoko Taro seemed to confirm that it was indeed the last secret.

McDonald, who has a history of finding and create cool stuff like this, says he will post a full video about the new game jump cheat code soon. Until then, you can go beat the first boss in Nier: Automata then head over to those barrels and try to figure out the code yourself.
