Avatar Casting Chris Evans Channing tatum

Avatar stars the little bland Sam Worthington like Jake Sully. But at one point, the role was almost attributed to one of two much more charismatic actors. According to Mr. Avatar himself, James Cameron, both Chris Evans and Channing Tatum The main role was almost reached, but Worthington finally convinced the filmmaker. The rest is history.

James Cameron was on a Avatar promotional blitz campaign recently, giving details of the original film and the five upcoming sequels. Stopping in front of the Empire podcast, Cameron revealed that the franchise was almost without Sam Worthington. Before Worthington locked the role, Cameron envisioned both Chris Evans and and Channing Tatum. Without wishing to offend Mr. Worthington, any of these choices would probably have been better.

"Chris Evans, Sam and Channing Tatum. It was my choice, "said Cameron, adding:

"I really liked Channing's call. I liked Chris' call. They were both big guys. But Sam had a quality of voice and a quality of intensity. Everyone acted in the same way on all elements of the scenario, except for the final speech in which he stood up and said, "This is our land, roll now, go as fast as the wind can you wear. "All that. I would have followed him in combat. And I would not have followed the other guys. They have since gone on to a fantastic career and all that, but Sam was ready. He was ready.

As a reference, here is the great scene of speech that Cameron talks about, the one that convinced him that Worthington was right for the role.

Avatar Speech

Worthington was really lucky here. Not only did he end up playing in the box office blockbuster of all time, he was also locked up in the five sequels of this movie. Of course, Evans and Tatum continued their career successfully, so in the end, everyone won. Still, it's fun to think how much Avatar to have been with Evans or Tatum in mind. Would that have made a huge difference? It's hard to say. The vocal performances would of course be different, but in the end, the two actors would be replaced by CGI renderings. True, they were also doing motion capture work, which could have given a very different movie. We will never know.
