James Cameron’s Avatar, thanks to its re-release in China, is now larger than Avengers: Endgame in terms of gross worldwide revenue. According to Deadline, the current sci-fi epic total now stands at $ 2.802 billion, surpassing Endgame’s $ 2.797 billion.
Interestingly, Zoe Saldana was in both films and played alien characters in both. In Endgame, she played the role of Gamora, and in Avatar, she was the female lead and played a princess Na’vi Neytiri.
Marvel Studios official account MCU directors Russo Brothers and James Gunn praised Cameron for this achievement. Of course, it’s Disney that congratulates Disney, because it owns both properties. Disney took ownership of the Avatar franchise after its recent acquisition of 21st Century Fox, now called Fox Corporation.

“Return the glove to you… @JimCameron,” Joe and Anthony Russo wrote on Twitter while sharing Boss Logic art.
Gunn, known for the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, tweeted, “Well, that was fun while it lasted, but I’m no longer an executive producer of the biggest movie of all time. Congratulations to James Cameron and the #Avatar team! (And of course @zoesaldana, which is sort of in a lossless situation here). “
Avatar was released in 2009 and received an enthusiastic response from critics and audiences alike. The film quickly became the highest grossing film ever made, making Cameron the most bankable director in Hollywood, at least in terms of monetary returns. His epic romantic catastrophe, Titanic, had also broken several box office records, as had his earlier Terminator films.
Endgame, which came out in 2019, made the Avengers, or what was left of them, come together to wipe out Thanos’ threat for the last time and bring back their dead comrades.
