A Kansas fossil hunter hopes to get more than a few bites on the remains of a Tyrannosaurus Rex baby he listed on eBay for just under $ 3 million.

Alan Detrich, an archaeologist and fossil hunter, told NBC News that human remains were discovered by his brother Robert in 2013 in a marsh of the Hell Creek Formation in Montana.

The dinosaur bones have an immediate purchase price of $ 2.9 million, as well as the option of "making an offer".

Detrich said that he was "probably the only baby T-Rex" in the world. According to the description of the article, it has a 15-foot body, a 21-inch skull and 12 serrated teeth in the lower jaw.

"This Rex was a very, very dangerous meat eater," Detrich said. He was about 4 years old when he died.

The description of the article originally was associated with the Natural History Museum of the University of Kansas, where the T-Rex was recently exposed, which provoked a brutal reaction of the school on social media.

"As a alum, I am disappointed to see the state's largest natural history museum acting as an asset for the sale of fossils in commerce," said Patricia Holroyd at a recent tweet.

The museum responded that it "does not sell or prohibit the sale of specimens to individuals" and that the T-Rex was removed from the exhibition and returned to its owner.

The museum director also said he asked Detrich to remove any association with this information from his list.

Detrich's list was viewed nearly 60,000 times, recording about 55 views per hour.

Beware of buyers: all sales are final – Detrich declares that it does not accept returns.
