In her letter, Straczynski spoke of Furlan’s story as an actress in Croatia who was forced to flee the Croatian War of Independence with her husband, director Goran Gajić. Despite threats to his life, Furlan remained a member of a traveling theater company in the midst of the war. Either way, Furlan played down his actions, according to Straczynski.
“I expressed my admiration for her courage, but she shrugged and waved him,” Straczynski wrote. “What’s the worst that could have happened?” Yes, they could have killed me. So what? Art should not have borders. “

Her other notable gender roles also included Danielle Rousseau Lost and Silver Sable on Spider-Man: The Animated Series. However, his roles weren’t limited to science fiction and fantasy.
