Bachelorette contestant Brendan Morais has “ no regrets ” for choosing to quit Tayshia Adam’s season in the penultimate episode.

The reality show’s suitor, 31, said while he was ‘confident’ in his decision, he was still ‘absolutely still sad that this is how it turned out’ as he appeared on Tuesday in Nick Viall’s podcast episode The Viall Files.

Morais decided to quit the show soon after realizing he still wasn’t ready for a relationship after his divorce.

Adams is now engaged to winner Zac Clark.

“ I want the wife, the kids and a family more than anything on this earth, ” he told Bachelor Nick season 21.

‘But then [I’ve been] realizing that there is a large part of me that is still broken, there is a large part of me that still needs time to heal. There is a big part of me that needs time to grow.

He also reflected on the pressure of being in such an insular environment, telling Viall: ‘I feel like I had more time and I could have taken Tayshia out of that. [show] bubble and really see how our lives fit together … we could have dated, and potentially more.

“ But when you protect yourself and don’t want to hurt yourself anymore, you do things that are self-sabotaging which could be an amazing thing. So I think it could have turned out differently if some things had changed.

While he said he was pleased with the way he had “ stayed true ” to himself on the show, he said he wanted to open up more, emotionally.

‘[I] I have some regrets, like I opened up a bit more and let this beautiful love story come true, ” the professional roofer told Viall.

“No doubt about it, I self-sabotaged the situation,” Morais said.

‘And go out [of being] divorced for three years now, it was a really very difficult time for me. And it was definitely a lot of times where I was like, “Will I ever get married again? Will I ever fall in love again and give my heart to someone?” ‘

But looking back, Morais said he was glad Adams found love.

“What makes me feel a little better about the situation is that I feel like what was supposed to happen has happened,” Morais continued.

“… Just knowing how much Zac was in love with Tayshia and seeing the mutual love they had for each other, I would say she would have chosen Zac anyway.”

“ But if I ended this whole trip where it was me and Tayshia and knowing that I even had a percent of doubt about it all, I probably couldn’t live with myself knowing that she could -to have missed the opportunity to fall madly in love with this guy who loves her completely from all points of view, ”he continued. “ For that I’m grateful for the way it turned out, and I feel like it was meant to be. ”

Still, if things don’t work out for the pair, Brendan said he would definitely like to see if he and Tayshia could come out again.

Adams, who secured the coveted Bachelorette title during a midseason transition (after Clare Crawley was released early for finding love with Dale Moss) appears to have ended her fairytale with the Specialist drug addiction Zac Clark, 36.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter last week about their post-TV relationship, the couple discussed some quarantine challenges after filming.

With the duo on opposite coasts, they’ve had to keep the spark alive through FaceTime, with a few visits here and there, because of the pandemic.

“A long-distance relationship is difficult, even without COVID. So we have done well over the past four months as a couple; we have to learn from each other. But, at the same time, we have had the difficulties of a normal relationship, with people who are at a distance or who are just getting to know each other.

Revealing in an episode of the Bachelor Happy Hour podcast, Adams said, “ I’m going to be bicoastal. I will keep my place here [in California], but yes, we are moving in together!

Speaking of her and Zac’s love for the season, she said: “ There were several times where I saw myself imagining a life with him. I guess it really solidified when my family was involved, just because I’m so close to my family.

Clark and Adams made an immediate connection in a few episodes in the franchise and bonded to each other on a deeper level, as the two had previously been married.

After Zac revealed his troubling history of addiction and knocked down the walls he had erected, Tayshia fell in love with each other.

Their strong bond resulted in Adams sending the second suitor home before the proposal, as she knew it was only Zac that she wanted to accept a proposal from.
