“I know I should be grateful, but I don’t mean to be wrong. And I fight. This guy… my rock, my best friend, my hero, my love… is struggling. Not every day, and not to the point where he can’t work, cook, exercise or be with his family, but enough. We have been struggling for months. I am having trouble getting answers.

While it’s not clear what is wrong with Ryan, the couple have received somewhat encouraging news.

Sutter wrote: ‘And this week we got an answer that would normally be the best of all the right answers. We found out Ryan didn’t have cancer.

“HUGE relief… without a doubt, especially after struggling to find a doctor to take seriously the symptoms that lined up with lymphoma and advocating for scans to rule it out. But part of us wanted a diagnosis. Wanting to be able to fight for him to be healed instead of fighting for an answer.

She continued to express her gratitude for her life, but was also realistic about her frustrations with the process.

Trista shared: ‘How much of a mess is it? Don’t worry, I know. It’s messed up. But, this is where we are. In a pattern of waiting not to know. And believe me… I know it could be worse, so for that I’m grateful.

“ Thank you for not having to be separated from a loved one who dies from COVID. Thank you for not having 2 children diagnosed with cancer. I am grateful to have each other, health insurance, jobs, a house and food on the table, and healthy family members and all the things that make this life easy. But if I’m not posting or responding to emails, emotionally or offline, remember that everyone is struggling one way or another, behind closed doors.

The Bachelorette star has said that despite the difficult process, she will keep her hopes up.

She concluded, “We are young and blessed, but not immune. We’ve been through a fairy tale on TV and have a good life for all intents and purposes, but the answers would be nice. So I’m going to keep praying for answers and I’m hopeful that if you’re the praying type you will be thinking of Ryan when it comes time to send a message.

This was not the couple’s first frightening medical incident as Trista suffered a seizure in Croatia while traveling to Europe in June 2017.

At the time, she posted a photo after being released from the hospital captioned: ‘Behind the lens of a camera, I’m looking to capture the joy in a precious moment and hold onto it. It’s one of my favorite things.

“In Europe, I received a gift. It certainly didn’t sound like a gift at the time, but I have since realized that my seizure brought me the gift of awareness and perspective. Just as I seek to find joy through a camera lens, I have to remember to find joy through the lens of my everyday life, and lately that has been difficult.

“ With the pain of a brutal sinus infection to contend with, I let the fear dampen that gift and focus on the negativity and the pain. So I want to apologize. To my husband. To my children. To my friends. To myself. May this remind you that you are blessed with every breath and every heartbeat. You have the right to be sad and afraid. You are human.

“ However, you are not allowed to wallow and waste your days in worst case scenarios. Life is Beautiful. Enjoy it and those worth experiencing, while you have the chance. One day the chances will be exhausted. Do your best to make sure that when they do, the smiles outweigh the sadness.
