Quarterback Baker Brown Mayfield was unhappy with the way the comments he's made in a GQ The talks were perceived as an attack against quarterback Giants Daniel Jones, so Mayfield tried to fix everything.
Mayfield said today that he contacted Jones to privately tell him what he had said publicly, that his words were turned into clickbait by media outlets trying to make everything he said .
"It had nothing to do with Daniel in particular," he said. "I reached out to Daniel because all this had gone out of control and I wanted him to know how I felt. I've only heard great things from Saquon and Sterling Shepard, guys who have only respect for him, and I respect their opinions. I just wanted to cleanse the air with him.
Mayfield said that he believed that the quotes he "could not believe" indicated that Jones was sixth in the overall standings and that this "shocked me in the mind" reflected him badly and made him pass for Jones, what Mayfield says he did not do.
"For me, it came back to my character. That's something I do not care about a lot of opinions about whether you like me or not, but it made me feel like my character was out of place, that's the only reason I'm I replied, "said Mayfield.
Jones did not seem particularly worried when asked about the comments. It is possible that the difference between these two quarterbacks has been reduced to nothing.
