Update # 1 [Tue 19th Jan, 2021 14:00 GMT]: The Balan Wonderworld demo has now also been confirmed for the west. It will be released on all platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, on January 28. – the same date as Japan!
Do you like what you’ve seen so far from Balan Wonderworld? Wondering if this could be on your street? Well, you’re in luck, because the game will soon have a free demo on the Switch eShop.
That’s right, from January 28 you will be able to taste this brand new 3D platform game for free. The demo will allow players to check out the first, fourth and sixth chapters of the game, and Nintendo Wire reports that two-player local co-op will also be supported. The news was announced today on social media:
At this time, the demo has only been confirmed for Japan, which means you will need to create a secondary Japanese eShop account to download it to your system. Hopefully the demo will launch in the west as well, but setting up a Japanese account isn’t too complicated if you feel like it.
If you need a quick catch up, Balan Wonderworld is a new platform game from Sonic the hedgehog creators, Yuji Naka and Naoto Ohshima. Themed around a mysterious musical theater, the game will be released by Square Enix and is expected to launch on Switch and other platforms on March 26. Here is a brief description:
The stars of the series will use the special abilities of a multitude of character costumes as they venture into the bizarre and imaginary land of Wonderworld. Here, memories and views of the real world blend with the things people hold dear.
Twelve different stories await our stars in Wonderworld, each with their own unique quirks. They’ll explore every nook and cranny of these labyrinthine stages, using all the tips and tricks hidden along the way, to get to the heart of each touching story.
