Two people were killed and one was injured in a shooting at a Baltimore County grocery store Sunday morning, authorities said.

The gunshot was heard around 7 a.m. outside the Royal Farms store on Middleborough Road in Essex. Baltimore County Police Detective Rob Reason told FOX 45 authorities were investigating “two fatal shootings and one non-fatal shooting.”
The outlet noted that the crime scene tape was quickly put in place as police cars filled the parking lot and crime lab officers and technicians were focused on a parked car.
About 15 minutes later, officers responded to a report of a fire and another individual with a gunshot wound in a building near the grocery store, located on Shadetree Road. Reason said police are investigating whether the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
Officials have not confirmed whether this person is dead or whether the two incidents are linked.
“We are currently investigating to see and determine whether the two incidents are related or not,” Reason added. “Our main priority is to make sure we inform the next of kin. And to make sure all of our facts are gathered before we release any further information.”

The incident comes about a week after a gunman killed 10 people at the King Soopers grocery store in Boulder, Colo.
The shooter, identified as 21-year-old Ahmad Al Aliwi Alissa, was charged with 10 counts of first degree murder and first appeared in court on Thursday, when his lawyer requested a mental health exam. Alissa has also been charged with attempted murder, and Boulder County District Attorney Michael Dougherty said authorities plan to lay further charges in the coming weeks. Authorities have yet to release a motive and it is not known why the grocery store was targeted.
Two days after the Boulder shooting, an Atlanta man was also arrested after he allegedly entered the Atlantic Station Publix Super Market with five guns and a bulletproof vest. The suspect, Rico Marley, 22, is charged with six counts of possession of a firearm and five counts of felony attempting to commit a felony.
