Police rendered assistance until medical staff responded to the scene. The suspect was taken to an area hospital, but could not be rescued. Meanwhile, the injured officer was hospitalized in “good condition,” Harrison said.

Although Harrison said he believed both officers were equipped with body cameras, it was not clear if the cameras had been activated because the couple were on a secret mission.
