OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Baltimore Ravens are a healthy cornerback on their active roster heading into Sunday’s game against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Of the six cornerbacks in the 53-man roster, only Marlon Humphrey was not on the team’s injury report on Friday.
Jimmy Smith (rib / shoulder) was ruled out, and Marcus Peters (calf) was listed as questionable despite not practicing all week. Anthony Averett (ankle), Tramon Williams (thigh) and Davontae Harris (ankle) are all considered questionable.
“We’re just learning as we go,” Ravens coach John Harbaugh said when asked about the availability of his corner-backs on game day. “It’s only Friday, so we’ll see when we get there.”
Peters, a three-time Pro Bowl defenseman, is one of the NFL’s longest-lasting corner-backs. His 45-game streak is the second-longest in the league behind Nickell Robey of the Eagles (50).
Williams also has a good chance to play after missing the last two games. He was a full participant in Friday’s training.
Other options for Baltimore include Terrell Bonds, who has been designated to come back out of the injured reserve, and Pierre Desir, who is on the practice squad.
The Ravens welcome the Jaguars, who are also struggling at the cornerback position.
Starter Sidney Jones has been ruled out over an Achilles tendon injury and it remains to be seen whether Tre Herndon will be allowed to make the trip following his stint on the reserve / COVID-19 list. If both are excluded, the Jaguars would lose their top four cornerbacks as DJ Hayden and CJ Henderson are both in season-ending IRs.
