Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was ruled out for the fourth quarter after suffering a concussion in Saturday’s AFC Division playoff game in Buffalo.
In the final game of the third quarter, Jackson’s header fell back and hit the grass in the end zone of Bills Stadium after throwing the ball away and receiving a kick from Bills defensive end Trent Murphy. Jackson immediately grabbed his helmet with both hands after touching the ground. He then threw his hands up in frustration as he walked to the locker room with a trainer.
Jackson has been reported for intentional grounding on the game.
Undrafted rookie Tyler Huntley replaced him with the 17-3 trailing Ravens. The Ravens’ other quarterbacks – Robert Griffin III and Trace McSorley – are currently on the injured reserve.
His injury came two games after Jackson pitched just the second pick six of his career. After rolling to the Buffalo 9-yard line, Jackson watched tight end Mark Andrews and was knocked out in the red zone for the first time.
Taron Johnson passed Jackson and returned the 101-yard interception for the touchdown. Instead of potentially leveling the game, the Ravens fell behind by two touchdowns.
Jackson finished 14 of 24 for 162 passing yards and only managed 34 rushing yards in nine carries. This is his third fewest rushing yards since taking the lead from Baltimore in the middle of the 2018 season.
