Shark aquarium star Barbara Corcoran apologized after making a joke about Whoopi Goldberg’s weight during an appearance on View.

Things got off to a good start when businesswoman Corcoran and her Shark aquarium the co-stars, Mark Cuban and Daymond John, were guests on the ABC talk show – where Goldberg is the moderator – on Thursday.

When the conversation turned to jeans from Good American, the fashion company co-founded by Khloe Kardashian and Shark aquarium star Emma Grede, Goldberg asked, “Will they adjust to this COVID [butt]? “

Goldberg’s View Co-hosts Sunny Hostin and Ana Navarro duly assured her that she could wear the jeans of the brand, which prides itself on making women’s products in various shapes and sizes.

Corcoran then drew moans from the audience as she joked, “When you’re done with these jeans and decide you don’t like them, give them to me. I’ll make two pairs.”

Oscar winner Goldberg didn’t look impressed as she looked at Corcoran, whose laughter was quickly replaced by a goofy grin.

Without missing a beat, Navarro jumped in Goldberg’s defense as she swept Corcoran’s choice of colorful bodycon dress.

“Whoopi, let me tell you something. Sara Haines and Jill Biden were already wearing this dress on TV,” Navarro said, before dramatically tearing up her cheat sheet.

Entrepreneur Corcoran placed her hands on her hips in playful protest as she retaliated, “That’s not true!”

“Donald Trump Jr. tried this on me. It didn’t work,” Navarro continued, referring to Trump Jr.’s humiliating tweet that came to him after his recent falsely positive COVID test.

Actress and TV personality Goldberg’s smile returned as she ended the segment, with the co-hosts and guests laughing together, albeit awkwardly.

Corcoran then took to Twitter to post an apology video, titled, “Love ya Whoopi,” in which she said, “Just got back from View and I saw my old friend, Whoopi. As you well know, she has a phenomenal sense of humor and I’ve known Whoopi for years.

“I made a joke at Whoopi’s expense, what I now realize was no fun. For anyone I may have inadvertently offended, I just want to say I’m so sorry.”

The embarrassing TV moment sparked a strong backlash from viewers, a number of whom spoke in favor of Goldberg and praised Navarro.

One viewer wrote on Twitter: “Ana is that girl! Get on or die and I love her for that! @Ananavarro said don’t come for Whoopi! Barbara Corcoran has gone too far.”

“Phew Anna with the quick feedback to ease this tense moment,” another Twitter user said. “I know whoopi is a comedian but Barbara lost her pocket for no reason.”

“Whoopi Goldberg is an EGOT – which means she has an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony,” wrote another. “She was in Ghost and Sister act and one of the best Moonlight episodes ever. Barbara Corcoran finds rental housing for the rich. “

Meanwhile, other viewers came to Corcoran’s defense, with one saying, “As viewers we really don’t know how close Barbara and Whoopi can be. that they are comfortable joking with each other.

“I was watching the moment this happened. I saw no sign of insult or intentional offense. IT WAS JUST A Joke.

Goldberg has yet to publicly respond to Corcoran’s apology.
