We haven’t seen a new Nook tablet since it was last released in 2018, but today Barnes & Noble confirmed to Engadget that they are set to reveal a new device. Dropping new hardware would be one way to convince people that devices weren’t discontinued without needing this dedicated FAQ, and this new device will be produced in collaboration with Lenovo.
Further details are still under wraps, but a B&N executive said The edge that the tablet “designed with Lenovo” could be presented next week. The last new Nook device as a whole was the GlowLight Plus which it released in 2019, but Good electronic reader notes that the device and the Nook Glowlight 3 are sold out as the company focuses on reshaping its retail footprint from large malls to small boutique-style boutiques.
The first Nook turned things upside down by adding a secondary color display to its e-Ink display, and it will be interesting to see what approach Barnes & Noble and Lenovo take. The brand has already tried a collaborative approach with several Galaxy Tab devices, but it may be the one that stands out from the Kindle, iPad and Fire tablets.
