Battlefield 2042 Beta starts this week but according to the latest optimizations reports you will need a very high end PC to run the game at the recommended settings.
Battlefield 2042 for PC BETA optimization reportedly bad, requires NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti to run at 1080p Recommended settings with 80-90 FPS
The initial performance was reported by Tom Henderson of GamingIntel who received the information from the creators who have early access to the beta. According to the report, the game only delivers 80-90 FPS at 1080p using the recommended settings on an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti graphics card and that doesn’t even push the game towards the ultra-quality preset that would require even more power.
The same graphics card can provide an average of 200 FPS in Battlefield V at 1080p (Recommended settings). DICE recently shared the recommended PC specs for the open beta and listed an AMD Ryzen 7 2700X / Intel Core i7-4790 processor, NVIDIA RTX 3060 / AMD RX 6600 XT graphics processor, 16GB of system memory, and at least 8 GB of graphics memory with 100 GB of SSD storage. The RTX 2080 Ti is certainly a lot faster than the RTX 3060 and RX 6600 XT, but seeing it only deliver 80-90 FPS in the open beta makes it seem like you’ll average less than 60 FPS with the recommended hardware. .

It is also reported by another Battlefield 2042 Closed Beta player that the game stuttered a lot with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card which is a relatively new product and which comes with the enhanced driver suite as part of the Game Drivers. Ready from NVIDIA. Most gamers report that the quality setting on an average preset hits around 120 FPS at 1440p resolution, although you’ll be sacrificing visuals a lot in doing so.
While optimization issues are to be expected for a beta, there were comments that many people either had to lower their graphics settings or suffer from low frame rates.
Two creators, both using a 2080Ti, reported that they could only get 80-90 FPS depending on the onscreen action at 1080p.
Great interest from Battlefield V, where this user managed to get an average of 200 FPS with a similar PC build.
Another gamer with a 3080 said he felt the game stuttered a lot and didn’t get the number of FPS he would expect with a high-end GPU (a Ryzen 9 3950x processor 16 cores).
The player had to reduce all of their settings to medium settings and only hit around 120 fps at 1440p.

Now, it can be said that this is expected from a beta, but the Battlefield 2042 visuals themselves are not a big step as one might have imagined. They’re definitely a step up from Battlefield 1 and Battlefield V, but they’re not mind-blowing. The tradeoff comes from the overall size of the maps and the inclusion of 128 players on a single map. But the fact that the maps are so big isn’t a good thing either, as even the number of 128 players isn’t enough to fill them all up.
Orbital is considered a medium sized map for Battlefield 2042, however, everyone noted that the map was too large even for 128 players.
The main return to the map is that there are too many open spaces and no cover, which makes infantry fighting boring for a mode like Conquest.
Some people have even gone so far as to say that the cards are essentially Open World.
This could be attributed to the fact that, according to the information extracted from the data miner Temporyal, All-Out-War maps will also include Hazard Zone.
It’s not entirely clear how DICE might fix this and it might play better in a different mode, but for Conquest it seemed too big for many.

DICE has already delayed Battlefield 2042 and it all depends on how players react to open beta to see if the game gets delayed again to offer more performance optimizations or to fix this after launch.
