EA has revealed that the Battlefield 2042 Tech Game Test, or preview, will begin August 12 and run through August 16. EA account. The playtest will be available on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation, demonstrating DICE’s commitment to bringing cross-play to Battlefield 2042.
EA and DICE’s Battlefield 2042 was among the most anticipated titles revealed during this year’s endless summer of gaming announcements. Although the first-person shooter is set to be discontinued in October 2021, the hype train has already gained tremendous momentum.
The game will be released in three editions: Standard, Gold, and Ultimate, and all three offer players the ability to access the game’s open beta when it is announced. Only the Gold and Ultimate editions allow players to access the full game one week before launch.

EA and DICE have also revealed more information about their new Battlefield Portal game mode. According to their latest update on the mode, Portal “will allow you to create and find fantastic experiences made by the creative and passionate community of the series.” With the ability to tweak the game settings to your liking for different game modes, it looks like this is the most ambitious feature in the series, with an emphasis on the community experience.
